March 11, 2010 - A police officer and two members of the police auxiliary group were arrested last week in Digos City for raping a 16-year-old girl.
Police authorities refused to name the suspects against whom criminal charges were already filed. The said suspects are now being locked up in the Digos City police jail.
“The alleged rape occurred last March 1 but we only learned about it recently when the girl's parents filed a complaint,” said P/Supt. Amelia Tugade, the provincial chief of the police's Women and Child Protection Desk (WCPD)
Accordingly, the police officer and the two members of the police auxiliary group took custody of the girl after she was caught stealing some items from a mall in the city but instead of bringing her to the WCPD or to the municipal social welfare officer, the perpetrators brought her to a lodging house where they took turns in raping her.
When the parents of the girl learned about what happened to their daughter, they asked help from the police against the three suspects.
